introductory presentation slides
personal favourite project of mine.
i thought brn. showed off my design, copywriting style, and overall personality well. it was pretty well-received too. my final year project could mimic this sort of tone.
the task for the coming week was to come up with a presentation to introduce everyone to the current state of our project. i realised that at this point, my research was only research. it was a topic i was interested to do something more in, but i didn't even have an aim for the outcome of my research. so i guess this presentation was good for me as well, in figuring out a proper direction for my research outcomes.
explaining the content of my research itself was fine. it’s a topic that was easy to
understand and relate to, also a topic of concern as well, in the field of design. while
doing up my presentation deck, i had time to reevaluate myself and the direction i was
trying to steer my project into. i’m not that good at taking things seriously. due to this,
it made me consider taking a more fun approach with my research. i also had to thoroughly
believe in and enjoy what i was doing for me to be able to convince others with my work as
well. (this is the case for a lot of people too, but i tend to lose interest in something
completely and not have the will to even try once i lose interest in things)
comparing my past works. personally, i thought that the projects i did better at are ones
that i was allowed to be genuine and have fun in. none of that overcomplicated design stuff
that i pretend to care about for the sake of passing school. the genuinity shows, and allows
people to relate to the project better. and it’s due to this that i decided that my outcome
should head in this direction. still, i listed down 2 options for my research:
outcome that would help creatives directly (more serious approach)
outcome that would shit on consumer behaviour (indirectly helping creatives) (fun approach)
both executions are still unclear. i think this can be decided at a later stage, when my
research outline is more filled up.
i changed my research topic. it’s different from what i had submitted last semester. for now, i
think the progress of my developments are alright. i think it’s okay to keep an open mind for
what i would like my research to achieve, or the format of my final outcome. i do need to step
up with my pace, however, before i get stuck in the slow pace and just shut down completely. i
will try to fix my target audience by next week, so that i am able to narrow down my research to
just the target audience.
i’m satisfied with the topic for now. i think it’s more applicable and relatable than what i was
doing last semester. it’s a topic of concern for most, especially because of how the design
culture is in singapore. personally, i haven’t seen any projects addressing the topic of
burnout, so it would be interesting to see what i can do with it.
narrow down my target audience, look up on interesting research outcomes
